East Wave Radio broadcasts on 92.2FM in Gauteng.
Situated in the heart of Lenasia, and broadcasting since 1995, our radio station has grown to become a true voice of the community. We are a licensed broadcaster for the Indian community.
We broadcast vastly over Gauteng, from the West to the East Rand, the Northern suburbs to the City and Southern suburbs and across the Vaal Area. We reach beyond our broadcast areas via mobile to thousands of online users through our audio streaming channel.
The station’s format covers a perfect blend of talk that is complimented by the best North and South Indian Music with programmes covering various vernaculars from Hindi to Urdu, Gujerati and Tamil. Retro western adult contemporary classics and dance music also feature in speciality programs.
The station’s programme content is highly interactive and community driven.
East Wave was founded in 1995 by Vikash Maharagh as there was no local station in Johannesburg serving the Indian community. We are the first licensed, independent Indian radio station in the history of South Africa.
